Eau Claire residents asked to Give-A-Kid-A-Book

Posted:

Eau Claire (Press Release) - The Friends of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire are collecting new, unwrapped books for the 18th annual Give-A-Kid-A-Book project.  The Friends will give the books to area agencies serving children and teens.  Project partners include the library, Books-A-Million, RCU, The Salvation Army, St. Francis Food Pantry and other Eau Claire agencies.

From November 26 through December 18, area residents are invited to bring new, unwrapped books to the public library during regular library hours or to RCU corporate headquarters.  On December 9, books may be taken to UW-Eau Claire's holiday concerts in Zorn Arena, and the Books-A-Million store will serve as a drop-off location from December 1 through December 24.

Suggestions for new books include board books for babies, easy picture books for ages 2 to 5, and fiction and non-fiction books for ages 6 to 18.  Dictionaries and audiobooks for all ages are also needed.

Monetary donations will also be accepted and Friends volunteers will then shop for books with the donated funds.  Monetary donations may be placed under the evergreen tree at the public library, or checks may be mailed to Friends of LEPMPL, 400 Eau Claire Street, Eau Claire, WI 54701.  Donations of books or money should reach the Friends by December 18.
