Pursuit leads to underage arrests

CUBA CITY (WKOW) -- Early Sunday morning, two Grant County deputies observed a vehicle traveling west on County Highway H near Alt Road, just outside of Cuba City.  The vehicle appeared to be traveling into the opposite lane.

As officers got closer to the car, it crossed over the fog line and then back towards the center.  The vehicle signaled to turn north for an extended period while driving over the fog line.

The deputies attempted to stop the vehicle on Alt Road, but the car sped to speeds over 80 mph.  The 2012 Chevy Malibu crashed into a patch of trees at the intersection of Alt and St. Rose Roads.

The driver, identified as 16-year-old Marcus Thiell, of Cuba City, was arrested for eluding an officer, violation of absolute sobriety and underage drinking.  Additional charges are pending.

The passenger, also 16, was cited for underage drinking and released.
