Eau Claire (WQOW) - Powerball fever is back, and as the
jackpot continues to grow, many area residents are hoping to strike it rich.
The pot has hit a record $425 million and could soar even higher before Wednesday's drawing. The two dollar
tickets are sold in 42 states and the District
of Columbia. Locally, sales have been climbing along with
the jackpot.
"We've seen a rise in
sales, and it's because the Powerball is $425 million. A lot of people like to
get together once it gets over a certain amount, they think "Oh!! Now its worth
it to get into Powerball," said Bobbie Miller, who works at Gordy's County Market
in Eau Claire.
This is the largest Powerball jackpot
in the game's history, but just the second biggest multi-state lottery this
year. In March, the Mega Millions jackpot hit $656 million dollars.
