MILTON (WKOW) -- Rock County's dispatch center says State Highway 59 east of Milton is back open after a tanker truck overturned.

Crews worked through the night to get the truck removed. The road opened back up early Wednesday morning.

MILTON (WKOW) -- Authorities estimate State Highway 59 east of Milton could be open by 3:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews were on the scene at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to remove the truck and tanker from the scene. Once that happens, the highway will reopen.

The tanker rolled over around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday while going around a roundabout.

MILTON (WKOW) -- The Milton Police Department says State Highway 59 east of Milton will remain closed throughout Tuesday night.

Police say responders will assess the situation Wednesday morning and decide how to proceed with getting the vehicle upright and the scene cleared.

A tanker carrying ethanol rolled over around 9:45 a.m. while negotiating a roundabout.

It's estimated the tanker was holding about 8,000 gallons of ethanol and it was leaking, but there are no estimates at this time about how much got out.

MILTON (WKOW) -- The City of Milton Police Department says State Highway 59, east of Milton, remains closed due to an overturned tanker truck.

The tanker was filled with ethanol which started to leak.

Officials on scene have determined the safest course of action is to allow the ethanol to leak out naturally, rather than introduce any apparatus which could potentially cause a fire hazard.  The ethanol is draining into a retention pond which is adjacent to where the incident took place.

There was approximately 8,000 gallons of ethanol in the tanker, and it is draining in excess of 10 gallons per minute.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting in the investigation, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is on scene to assist with the environmental impact assessment.

Officials monitoring the air quality have determined those who were evacuated from homes and businesses earlier can now return.

There is no danger to anyone outside of a 500 foot radius of the incident.

Officials say the roadway is expected to be closed well into the evening.

MILTON (WKOW) -- The Rock County Sheriff's Department has shut down Highway 59 between Highway 26 and Vickerman Road due to a tanker truck on its side.

The tanker was filled with ethanol and overturned while negotiating a roundabout.

The rollover has caused ethanol to leak.  The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has been notified and officials will respond to the scene.

A reporter with the Milton Courier states he was told there is an 800 foot radius near a beer distributor that is being evacuated.

This incident is not the result of a traffic accident.  Authorities will have Highway 59 closed for an undetermined amount of time.
