SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin based company has announced it is opening a 40,000-square-foot cereal ingredient processing facility in South Dakota.
Glanbia Nutritionals Ingredient Technologies made the announcement Tuesday, saying it will open the new facility in Sioux Falls. It will employ 38 people and begin operations in July 2013.
The facility will produce whole and milled flaxseed ingredients for the food and beverage industries. The new plant will replace one in Canada that was destroyed by a fire in March.
Company President Jerry O'Dea says Sioux Falls was selected as the location for the facility because of its proximity to the Canadian Flax growing region, its transportation infrastructure, convenience, and support from state and local leaders.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard says Glanbia is a leader in the agricultural industry and he's pleased to welcome them.
