MADISON (WKOW) -- The holiday shopping season is here which also means the holiday shipping season is here. If you've got packages to send this holiday season, the United States postal service has released some helpful tips and important mail dates.
The USPS is expecting 15.2 billion cards, letters, and packages between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Officials say, it's important to mail your parcels and packages early. The busiest day to mail will be Monday, Dec. 17, 2012. The busiest delivery day will be Dec. 19, 2012 for cards and letters. The busiest day for packages is on Dec. 20, 2012.
USPS expects a 20% increase in packages this year. Some important deadlines for everyone to keep in mind include: military mail by Dec. 3, most international mail by Dec. 10, first-class by Dec. 20, priority mail by Dec. 21 and express mail by Dec. 22, 2012.
