Eau Claire (WQOW)- John Finney is a man who took a dream and turned it into reality. What's special about this dream is that it was shared by many people. A group of volunteers and a young man diagnosed with cancer.

John Finney and his wife Karen spent time volunteering at a camp in Warren, WI geared toward families with children who had been diagnosed with terminal illnesses. After a few years the camp was forced to close because of financial trouble. That's when John go the idea to start a brand new camp. And so, Joshua's Camp was born.

Joshua's Camp is named after Josh Holm, a young man from Eau Claire who lost his battle with cancer in 2008. When he was in the hospital Josh dreamed of the day he'd be well again and when that day came, wanted to start a camp for families who have a child being treated for cancer.

The camp is possible through the hard work of volunteers, generous community donations and grants. It's hosted at the Metropolis Resort in Eau Claire. Families with children fighting cancer are invited to attend for a weekend of fun, laughter and bonding. And it's all free of cost.
