GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- Packers running back Cedric Benson will remain on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.
The team made the announcement Thursday, just one day after coach Mike McCarthy says Benson had foot surgery.
Benson was placed on injured reserve, but designated to return on Oct. 10 after spraining his left foot. He was eligible to resume practice, and could have played as early as Dec. 9 against Detroit. He never did practice, and said last week he was considering surgery.
Benson finishes the year with 248 yards rushing on 71 carries.
