(Press Release) - On Friday, November 30, 2012, at 12:20 a.m. Eau Claire Police and Fire/Rescue units were dispatched to the 2600 block North Hastings Way reference a crash.
Preliminary investigation into the crash by the Eau Claire Police Department indicates that there was one vehicle involved; Toyota Tundra.
The Toyota was traveling south on North Hastings Way at a high rate of speed. The Toyota passed a vehicle and attempted to exit on the off ramp towards Highway 312/East North Crossing. While doing so, the Toyota struck the curb and subsequently overturned multiple times coming to a rest on its tires.
The Toyota Tundra was driven by an adult male who was the lone occupant. The operator was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Eau Claire Police Department Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to conduct an investigation of the crash.
The exit ramp from North Hastings Way to Highway 312/East North Crossing is currently closed as of 4:40 a.m. The ramp is expected to open by 6:00 a.m.
The name of the operator will not be released at this time. The Eau Claire Police Department will conduct additional investigation and will release details when they become available.
