American Family Children's Hospital's "Double Your Impact" campaign begins

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- The American Family Children's Hospital has partnered with UW Credit Union in a million dollar effort to double donations for the hospital's "Sick Kids Can't Wait" fund.

A group of supporters have pledged one million dollars to match every dollar donated through the "Double Your Impact" campaign.

UW Credit Union has partnered with the hospital by donating promotional support.

"We're honored to support this institution," Paul Kundert, President and CEO of UW Credit Union. "Anyone who's ever stepped in it, realizes what a special place this is and how important the work is here to all of us in the community."

The Huebel family brought their infant son, who was born with congenital heart defects, to the children's hospital for surgery and say they are thankful for that.

"At four weeks old, he had a shunt put in above his heart, and then at six months he had his full open heart repair," Chris Huebel said. "We've met a lot of people and a lot of staff members here at the hospital and without their help; you can see how our little guy is today."

"Sick Kids Can't Wait" is a four-year, 32-million dollar project designed to meet the growing needs of patients and families at the hospital. It's also the first phase of a 10-year plan to complete the American Family Children's Hospital on the UW Health campus.

The "Double Your Impact" campaign runs through February 28, 2013.
