Eau Claire (WQOW) - Christmas may be a few weeks away,
but it came early to those who visited downtown Eau Claire Saturday.
Downtown Eau Claire businesses put on "Christmastime in
the City" Saturday afternoon to get people of all ages in the Christmas mood. Elves
and Santa joined area residents who were dressed up for the event. The idea is
to give people a break from the holiday spending.
"It's nice and
simple and easy for a family to come, we've got free cookies and hot chocolate.
We just like to create a magical time where you don't have to spend a lot of
money," said Salina Heller of Downtown Eau Claire Inc.
Kids were able to decorate cookies
and see Santa as part of the event. There were also free horse drawn wagon
rides.
