ROCK COUNTY (WKOW) – One person
is dead and three people are injured after a single-vehicle rollover crash
early Sunday morning.
Authorities say a pickup truck
with four occupants was on the ramp to I-39 southbound from USH 14. As the vehicle approached the interstate from
the ramp lane, officials say the driver accelerated and the tires lost traction
on the wet pavement causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Authorities say the pickup went
sideways and down into the right ditch which caused it to rollover twice. The vehicle went through a chain link fence
and eventually came to rest on its tires.
Officials say the front right
passenger was ejected and fatally injured.
Three of the four occupants were not seat belted in. Three of the four occupants were injured with
non-life threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to a hospital.
Authorities released the ages
of the men involved in the crash. A 30-year-old male from Janesville was killed
in the crash. The driver of the pickup
truck, a 31-year-old male from Stoughton was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in
Janesville. A 30-year-old male from Stoughton
was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Janesville.
A 27-year-old male from Janesville was taken to Mercy Hospital in
Janesville.
The incident happened around
1:59 a.m. on I-39 SB at 172.5 mile marker in Rock County near Janesville. The
investigation is ongoing.
