Gov. Walker to talk with President Obama about the fiscal cliff

WISCONSIN DELLS (WKOW) -- Gov. Scott Walker made a stop in Wisconsin Dells Monday afternoon, just before heading to Washington, D.C. where he'll meet with the president.

Walker stopped at the Mathews Retailer Business Show at the Wisconsin Dells Center. The governor walked through the expo dedicated to hunting, visiting with business owners and attendees. He says he's proud to see a small Wisconsin business like Mathews Bows, based out of Sparta, grow to have a national reach.

Gov. Walker also talked about his trip to Washington on Tuesday. There, he and other members of the National Governors Association Executive Committee will talk with President Obama about their suggestions on solutions to the fiscal cliff.

Walker says he hopes their talks will cover issues that have bipartisan support among governors nationwide.

"It's not going to be issues that are politically divisive, it's going to be in areas where we think there's agreement largely amongst Republican & Democratic governors," says Walker. "About ways, if they're going to make changes, they can do so in a way that would be easier for every governor to comply and ultimately balance their budgets."

He wouldn't elaborate much, saying the governors hope to talk with the president first before releasing too much on their ideas.

Governor Walker also responded to a WisconsinReporter analysis that was released last week, showing that Walker had taken 54 personal days in just ten months.
