Witnesses report shots fired at east side gas station

MADISON (WKOW) -- Police are investigating after witnesses reported shots fired at an east side gas station.

Madison police say they received several reports that five shots were fired at the Capitol Petro gas station on East Washington around 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police have not located any victims, and none have been admitted at area hospitals. Police have taken a number of people of interest into custody in connection with the shooting.

Police say witnesses saw someone fire shots at a group of people at the gas station.

The Dane County Communications Center says there were later reports of shots being fired in the area of North St. and Myrtle St., not far from the earlier location. Those reports came in around 10:15 p.m.

Officials say there are no reports of any injuries or arrests from the second batch of gunfire. Officials say there's also no word on whether the gunshot incidents are related.
