MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin women's hockey team will look to "Ice Hunger" this winter by hosting a series of games in which fans can donate non-perishable food items to the Second Harvest Foodbank.
The first of four "Ice Hunger" games is this Saturday, Dec. 8. The Badgers will face North Dakota at LaBahn Arena; the puck will drop at 2 p.m.
The team encourages fans to help fight hunger by attending games this winter and donating a food item. The first 250 fans that bring a non-perishable food item for donation will receive a Wisconsin Hockey wristband and will be entered in a raffle to win a $50 Best Buy gift card.
In addition, Becker Law Offices will donate one dollar for every fan in attendance at the four "Ice Hunger" games, with the cumulative check presented at the final game on February 16.
The three remaining "Ice Hunger" games are slated for January 12, January 27, and February 16. Each game, fans will receive a different giveaway for their donation. So, be sure to collect all four items!
The Wisconsin Athletic Department has a successful partnership with Becker Law Office and Second Harvest Foodbank. Last year an NCAA-record, 12,402 fans attended the "Fill the Bowl" event and raised over $12,000 and 1,500 pounds of food for Madison-area families.
