Clark County (WQOW) - An elderly man is accused of leading a deputy on a high-speed chase on a very foggy night.
Florian Slowiak of Augusta was arrested Sunday night in Clark County. He is 80-years-old. A deputy tried to stop him after he says Slowiak's truck crossed the center line and nearly hit his squad car.
The deputy says Slowiak stopped twice, but sped off as soon as the deputy got out of his car to approach him. Speeds hit 85 mph before Slowiak drove into a ditch and got stuck.
The deputy says he resisted arrest and had no idea what county he was in. He was arrested for drunk driving and faces criminal charges of fleeing and resisting.
