WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKOW) -- Governor Scott Walker spent part of Tuesday in the nation's capitol. He and several other governors met with President Barack Obama about the fiscal cliff.
They talked about the impact on states and possible solutions to avoiding the tax increases and spending cuts set to take effect early next year if Congress doesn't act.
The governors are worried the lack of an agreement will push more expenses onto the states.
"We're not elected to fix all the problems of Washington. The President and the members of Congress are here to do that," Walker said Tuesday. "We're here to offer a resource in a way that can help not just our state governments but the people we represent in each of our states.
Delaware Gov. Jack Markell, a Democrat and chairman of the National Governors Association, said the governors didn't endorse either the president's proposal to raise taxes on wealthier Americans or Republican proposals to raise revenue by closing tax loopholes and deductions.
