MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee has gone nine months without measurable snowfall, and is days away from setting a record for lack of snow.
The National Weather Service says Milwaukee's last measurable snowfall came on March 4, when 0.9 inches fell. Wednesday marks the 276th consecutive day since then without snow.
The Milwaukee record is 279 days, set in 1999. If there's no snowfall in the next few days, the city would tie the record Saturday and set a record Sunday.
Madison was on its way to setting a record of its own, until a tenth of an inch fell last month. That ended Madison's streak at 246 days, or ninth best since the weather agency began keeping track.
Madison's record was also 279 days, and was also set in 1999.
