DNR looking for volunteers to help capture deer

Sawyer County (WQOW) - The DNR wants your help as it looks into the causes of death of deer in Wisconsin.

For the third year in a row researchers will head into Sawyer County this month. They're looking for volunteers to help capture deer using traps and nets. They will then take blood samples, do ultrasound exams to determine if does are pregnant, and attach radio collars and ear tags before releasing them.

The 5 year study is aimed at helping biologists form deer harvest recommendations. The first year of the study showed that more than half of the fawns that died were killed by predators.
