Rice Lake (WQOW) - The Rice Lake School Board could soon send a referendum to the voters.
The wording has been set for a $20.4 million referendum. The money would be used to pay for remodeling and renovations at the high school, middle school and Tainter Elementary, along with paying for projects to re-purpose Jefferson Elementary.
The wording will go before the school board on Monday. The board could then approve it for the February ballot.
Official wording of proposed referendum:
"Shall the Rice Lake Area School District be authorized to issue pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $20,420,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of constructing additions to and remodeling and renovation projects at the high school, including those to upgrade science, technology and agriculture facilities; constructing additions to and remodeling and improvement projects at the middle school, including those to upgrade science facilities and to improve the safety of the bus drop-off area; constructing additions to and remodeling and renovation projects at Tainter Elementary School, including projects to accommodate the re-purposing of Jefferson Elementary School; and acquiring furnishings, fixtures and equipment?"
