Former Hudson tourism center site passes first hurdle

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A plan to replace a former western Wisconsin rest area with a major commercial development clears its first possible roadblock.

Earlier this fall investors bought the former Hudson rest area and tourism center from the state.

They paid $1.25 million for the 16 acres of  prime real estate along I-94.

Last night the Hudson Plan Commission voted unanimously to recommend the site be rezoned.   That would clear the way for a multi-million dollar retail complex with 10 buildings.

The city council must still approve the re-zoning. A vote is set for December 17th.
