Wis. DNR needs volunteers for deer study

MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin's DNR needs volunteers to help with a deer mortality study early next year.

The Department of Natural Resources is in the third year of a five year research project that looks at the causes of deer deaths. The agency relies on volunteers in the field to help gather data.

The year, the DNR needs someone to spend a full day in the woods with biologists checking traps, taking blood samples, performing ultrasounds on does and fitting deer with radio collars and ear tags before releasing them. The work will be done around Winter and Shiocton in January, February and March.
