MILWAUKEE (WKOW) --  A life prison sentence was handed down Thursday in Milwaukee for a woman convicted of killing a pregnant woman in order to take the mother's child.

34-year-old Annette Morales-Rodriguez told police she lied to her boyfriend about being pregnant and as her supposed due date neared, she came up with a plan to kill a woman and steal her baby.

In court Thursday, Morales-Rodriguez apologized to the family of the victim, 23-year-ojld Maritza Ramirez-Cruz.

The judge decided Morales-Rodriguez will not be eligible for parole.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A woman who police say killed a pregnant woman, then tried to cut out her full-term fetus will be sentenced Thursday.

Annette Morales-Rodriguez, 34, of Milwaukee, was convicted of two counts of First Degree Intentional Homicide, one each for the mother and the baby. She faces a mandatory life sentence at a hearing Thursday afternoon. The judge may, however, allow the possibility of parole.

Prosecutors say Morales-Rodriguez had miscarriages and was desperate to give her boyfriend a son. They say after faking a pregnancy, she panicked as her due date approached and decided to attack an expectant mother, Maritza Ramirez-Cruz, 23.
