New parade to head down Water Street Saturday

Eau Claire (WQOW) -Eau Claire is hoping people head down to Water Street this weekend to enjoy a new parade.

The first ever Clearwater Winter Parade and Family Fun Celebration kicks off tomorrow at 5 p.m. A parade with lighted floats will make its way down Water Street before ending at the Hobbs Ice Arena. The Eau Claire Parks and Recreation Department says the new event will help the city in a couple different ways.

"We were looking to raise funds for youth recreation scholarships, so this is really a fundraiser for that, that's why we have the parade and then we have activities down at Hobbs. And it has also now ended up being a kick off to winter activity," said Dawn Comte, Eau Claire's Superintendent of Recreation.

Games, raffles, and skating are just a few options for the whole family to enjoy at Hobbs Ice Arena. That part of the event begins at 6 and runs until 9.
