Platteville woman assaulted outside her home

PLATTEVILLE (WKOW) -- Grant County deputies respond to a report of an assault outside a Platteville woman's home.

Police say at about 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, a 49-year-old woman who lives in Oak Park Trailer Park had left her home to run some errands.

The incident happened on the 5200 block of Classic Lane.

When she returned, she was attacked as she walked from her car to front door. Deputies say it was a lone assailant.

Police say they are looking for a white, male about 6-feet-6-inches tall. He was wearing dark clothing and a ski mask. The suspect took off running and deputies were not able to find him.

During the attack, the victim was struck several times in the face and did her best to fight off the suspect. Seconds after the attack started a car came into the driveway and the suspect was scared off. The victim ran into her house and called 911.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Platteville where she was treated for facial injuries.
