UPDATE: No danger at CT church after phoned threat - WQOW TV: Eau Claire, WI NEWS18 News, Weather, and Sports

NEWTOWN, CT (WKOW) – Police say there was is no danger at a Connecticut church following a phoned-in threat where many worshippers honored those who lost their life on Friday in the school shooting.

Deborah Metz, a Trumbull police officer on the scene, gave the all-clear after the police in SWAT gear searched the church and adjacent buildings for an hour.

The evacuation unnerved worshippers in the wake of the worst shooting of school-age children in U.S. history.

Police say the church will be on lockdown the rest of the day.

Shooter Adam Lanza, his mother and eight of the child victims attended St. Rose of Lima. It is a Roman Catholic Church with an adjacent school, which Lanza attended briefly.

NEWTOWN, CT (WKOW) --  Worshippers quickly left a church in Newtown, Connecticut, saying there was a bomb threat.

Police in SWAT gear arrived at the St. Rose of Lima Church, which is not far from the elementary school where 20 kids and six adults were killed on Friday.

There was no official report from the police about the threat or evacuation.  It is not clear that this time if there actually was a threat or if it was a hoax.
