Eau Claire (WQOW) - An Eau Claire man and his wife are sentenced for stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the man's elderly mother.
Duane Nauiokaitis and his wife Victoria were charged with stealing nearly $200,000.
Duane had power-of-attorney for his mother's finances after she moved into an Altoona nursing home. Police say the couple admitted using her money for their own expenses, didn't pay her nursing home bill or the tax bills on her house.
The two were sentenced Monday to two months of community service, must pay restitution and cannot have control of other people's finances for the next five years.
