Eau Claire (WQOW) - Area kids in need will have some
special comfort thanks to elementary school students.
Classes at Meadowview Elementary
have been taking care of teddy bears since the beginning of December. Today, around
75 students gave their bears to members of the Eau Claire Police Department.
The bears will handed out to kids who an involved in emergency situations; at a
time when a little gift can go a long way.
"First graders
understand feeling sad, they understand being scared, and it was a way for them
to use what they already have, their own love, and donate that love to a child
in need," said Kelly Staniszewski, a first grade teacher at Meadowview
Elementary School.
This is the 12th year Meadowview Elementary School students have
participated in the program. Parents of the students provide the stuffed bears.
