Rice Lake (WQOW) - One of the largest employers in Barron County has a facility in Newtown, Connecticut, a few miles from where 20 children and six adults were killed in a school massacre on Friday.

Rice Lake Weighing Systems has a handful of employees in Newtown and reached out to them right away on Friday. A company representative says while the tragedy has affected all of us in some way, they're thankful it did not directly impact their employees in Newtown.

Rice Lake Weighing Systems manufactures scales and measuring equipment. The company employs about 400 in Rice Lake.
