MADISON (WKOW) -- While the holidays are a happy time for many, they can be dangerous for some.
Domestic violence advocates say they see an increase in cases after the holidays.
Shannon Barry, executive director of Domestic Abuse Intervention Services in Dane County, says that's when they see a spike in calls to their hotline.
"During the holidays, victims and batterers are together a lot more than they are at other times of the year so victims don't have the same opportunities to reach out for help, that they might have at other points."
If you or a loved is experiencing domestic abuse, you can call the 24 hour help line at (608) 251-4445.
