Area school installing new security system

Cadott (WQOW) - An area school is changing its security procedures in light of last week's Connecticut school shooting.

An electronic access system will be installed at the elementary school on December 31st. The system will be similar to the one already installed at the high school.  

Main doors will be locked during the school day and visitors will have to use an intercom so a staff member can determine if they should be allowed into the school.   

The superintendent says the system was supposed to be installed when the school is renovated next year but that it's being done now to keep students safer.
