Eau Claire (WQOW) - Instead of advertising the latest sale there's a new and different message on the marquee sign outside of the Eau Claire K-Mart.
K-Mart is using the sign to thank some special customers.
Last week we told you that people were anonymously paying off the bills for strangers who had toys and Christmas gifts on layaway. Since that story aired, the manager says dozens more have come in to do the same thing, spending thousands of dollars on people they don't even know.
They included a couple of kindergarten age kids who each donated $20 and co-workers of a laid-off woman who paid off her bill. He says some people whose bill was paid off, then 'paid it forward,' by paying for someone else's layaway purchases.
He says some customers have now been doing it for several years, making it part of their Christmas tradition.
