No CWD found in latest tests on deer in northern Wis.

Washburn County (WQOW) - Good news Monday for the DNR and for deer hunters in northern Wisconsin.

The DNR took lymph nodes from hundreds of deer shot by hunters last month in four northwestern Wisconsin counties. They were looking for any evidence of Chronic Wasting Disease after a confirmed case was found in a deer last year in Washburn County.

CWD is a fatal brain sickness that could threaten the state's deer population. But on Monday we're told that test results are now back on more than 95 percent of the deer and no cases of CWD have been found.
