RACINE (WKOW) -- A Racine family whose presents were stolen from under their tree is having a merry Christmas after all, thanks to a local businessman.
The Journal Times of Racine reported that a thief entered Caylie Cunningham's home through an unlocked door while she was out, taking presents for her 7-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son.
Scott Petersen said he read that news story and couldn't stop thinking about Cunningham's children, so he sent each child a gift-wrapped present and gave their mother $500 in gift cards. He says he just wanted to make sure the kids had happy Christmas memories.
Cunningham says Petersen's generosity brought tears to her eyes.
