Eau Claire (WQOW) - Good news for a western Wisconsin charity that was targeted by thieves earlier this month.
A 24-foot trailer filled with tools was stolen in Grantsburg. It was owned by Habitat for Humanity, which was in the process of building a home there.
The trailer has now been located. It was recovered by authorities Thursday, hidden in a wooded area of Isanti County, Minn. That's about an hour west of Grantsburg. Officials are still looking for the men suspected of stealing it.
Most of the tools were gone and Habitat for Humanity officials say those that were left in the trailer were damaged. They estimate their loss at about $5,000, which is the same amount as their insurance deductible.
The trailer was returned to the construction site Friday and work resumed on building a home for a single mother and her 9-year-old son.
Habitat for Humanity officials say the theft delayed progress on construction but they expect the home to be completed yet this winter.
