Woman and daughter lucky to be alive after crashing car into Red Cedar River

Menomonie (WQOW) - A woman and her child are lucky to be alive after their car crashes into a river near Menomonie.

It happened early Sunday morning on I-94. The state patrol says 21-year-old Daniella Overett fell asleep at the wheel while heading westbound. The Minnesota woman woke up while her car was heading through the median, and couldn't correct it in time. Her car drove off the interstate and into the Red Cedar River. Her car was partially submerged, but she was able to get out of the car with her 23-month old daughter. The mother was not injured, but her daughter suffered a few scrapes and bruises.
