Slippery conditions cause 3 accidents in Trempealeau County over the weekend

Press Release from the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department: Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department took a report of a two vehicle crash on State Road 93 at County Road Y in the town of Chimney Rock on Saturday, December 29th at 10:59 a.m., with injuries after a southbound vehicle lost control due to an ice covered bridge deck and struck a northbound vehicle head on. Three people were transported to area hospitals, two by ground ambulances and one by helicopter. Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department was assisted by fire departments from Eleva, Strum and Independence, also first responders from the scene helping the injured. Ambulances from Mayo Health Osseo and Arcadia also transported two of the injured. The injuries did not appear to be life threatening at the time of the crash. Names are not being released at this time.

Press Release from the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department: The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department received a call of a three vehicle crash with injuries on Friday, December 28th at 5:51 p.m. It was determined that all three vehicles were attempting to slow down due to road conditions when the driver of the vehicle, 18 year old Megan Salava struck the back end of another vehicle driven by 18 year old Dylan Franson causing her to lose control and spin out facing into oncoming traffic. Another vehicle behind Megan driven by 20 year old Keegan Achtziger struck Megan's vehicle in the front passenger side causing extensive damage and injury. Megan was transported by Osseo Ambulance to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, WI with unknown injuries. Megan Salava was cited for operating while suspended along with open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. Keegan Achtziger was cited for no insurance. Assisting the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department was the Eleva Police Department, Strum First Responders, Strum Fire Department and Osseo Ambulance.

Press Release from the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department: David Kaiser was driving his vehicle westbound on Highway 54/43 .1 mile east of McKeeth Drive on a straight road on Friday, December 28th at 9:23 p.m. The roads were extremely icy and Kaiser lost control of his vehicle, crossed both lanes of traffic and struck the eastbound guardrail with the front end of his vehicle. The passenger, Duwayne Est, was treated for a head injury and transported to a local hospital.
