Nomination papers due for WI candidates

MADISON (WKOW)-- The deadline is looming for Wisconsin State Supreme Court and state schools superintendent candidates to turn in their nomination papers.

Justice Pat Roggensack and state Department of Public Instruction Superintendent Tony Evers are both up for re-election this spring. Candidates must submit nomination papers with at least 2,000 valid signatures to the state Government Accountability Board by the end of the day on Wednesday, to make sure they have a spot on the ballots.

Roggensack turned in what she said were 4,000 signatures on Friday. Lemon law attorney Vince Megna and Marquette University law professor Ed Fallone both have registered with the GAB to challenge her.

State Representative Don Pridemore, a Hartford Republican, has registered to run against Evers, who is expected to file his signatures Wednesday afternoon.

GAB officials have scheduled a primary for February 19 and the general election for April 2.
