LA CROSSE (WKOW) -- Miss Wisconsin and Onalaska native, Kate Gorman, leaves for the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas.

Kate has spent the last several months preparing for the pageant. She has been practicing her interview skills, working out for the swim suit competition and promoting her platform, "Take a Healthy Bite Out of Hunger."

Kate says she wants to become Miss America so she can reach millions more people with her nutritional education program.
