Lake Holcombe (WQOW) - A local judge has signed off on a $300,000 settlement in connection with the death of a man on Lake Holcombe last summer.
Lucas Gawrsiak of Eau Claire was on an inner tube being pulled by a boat when the tube slammed into a concrete bridge pillar. Terms of the agreement call for his 4-year-old daughter and her mother to receive $175,000 of the settlement money.
Investigators were never able to positively determine who was driving the boat. Robert Steele said it was his 14-year-old son. But another witness said Steele was the driver and that others lied for him because he was on probation and was not supposed to be drinking.
