Flu cases on the rise nationwide; health departments recommend flu shots

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Doctors coast to coast are reporting outbreaks of the flu. They say no flu season has started this hard, this early, in a decade.  In New York, 84 cases at this time last year. Thursday, almost 4,000! Here in Wisconsin the numbers are also climbing, though not as dramatically. Since October 385 people have been hospitalized because of the flu.  According to the department of health services that's only 4 less than the entire flu season last year, when 389 people were hospitalized. To find a flu vaccination center near you call the Eau Claire City-County Health Department flu line at (715) 839-6061.
