GOP divisions after fiscal cliff - WQOW TV: Eau Claire, WI NEWS18 News, Weather, and Sports

WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- Some republicans in Wisconsin's congressional delegation deny there's a division in the party after the fiscal cliff deal.

Both Representative Paul Ryan and Senator Ron Johnson voted to pass the bill that prevented a tax increase on most Americans, but didn't cut spending or address the debt ceiling.

Republican congressman Jim Sensenbrenner was among those who voted against it.

Despite the obvious difference on issue, Ryan says they remain together as the new session starts.

"I think we are all unified going forward now, now that President Obama got some of his tax increases. We need to focus on spending and that's where we are all completely unified on," said Ryan.

Republican leaders have indicated that they plan to dig-in against the president on the issues of spending and the debt ceiling; both have congressional deadlines looming early in the new year.
