WAUKESHA (WKOW) -- The Golden Guernsey plant in Waukesha is closing, according to workers at the plant.
The company was recently purchased by a California-based investment group, and an employee says workers at the plant were told Saturday morning they were all being laid off immediately.
The move could also impact Wisconsin's dairy haulers.
"I'm hoping it doesn't put me out of business," said Lynn Hiemka, owner of Mapleton Dairy Haulers. "I have like 13 or 14 employees and nobody knows, it's just been so sudden."
Hiemka says Golden Guernsey also provides milk for several Milwaukee-area schools which will now have to quickly find another supplier.
