MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin football program is one of the most valuable in the nation.
That's according to a new study from Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus and posted in the Wall Street Journal.
Wisconsin came in 17th with a value of $296.1 million. Texas ranked as the program with the most value at $761.7 million.
The value represents what the team would fetch if it could be bought and sold like a pro franchise.
Researchers looked at information like revenues, expenses and growth projections for each school.
Wisconsin was the 6th highest ranked school from the Big Ten Conference behind Michigan (#2, $731.9 million), Ohio St. (#5, $586.6 million), Iowa (#11, $384.4 million), Nebraska (#13, $360.1 million) and Penn State (#16, $300.8 million).
