New Eau Claire County District Attorney has ties to Barry Alvarez

Eau Claire County (WQOW) - Eau Claire County's new district attorney is officially on duty.

Gary King was sworn in Monday. He takes over for D.A. Brain Wright, who lost to King in the November election. King has worked in the D.A.'s office for a year, and practiced criminal law for nearly a decade. He also has a unique connection with one of Wisconsin's most famous coaches, Barry Alvarez. King worked for UW-Madison for a number of years, including during Alvarez's first trip to the Rose Bowl.

"He taught me so much about not only how to work hard and go about your daily business, but the importance of how you treat all of the people that you work with, and if you want to be known as a first class person you treat people with class," says King.

King says he hopes to continue on with some of the practices former D.A. Rich White put in place to try and reduce the number of repeat offenders in the county jail.
