MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison College President Bettsey Barhorst has announced her retirement.
Below is the announcement posted on the Madison College web site Tuesday morning:
After 45 years in higher education, including the last eight as president of Madison College, Bettsey Barhorst is retiring.
During her tenure at the College, Barhorst has received a number of national awards, including Executive of the Year by the Association of Community College Trustees.
But when folks look back at her accomplishments, they'll most likely remember the Smart Future building plan which paved the way for the College's 134-million-dollar referendum—the largest in Wisconsin history.
Dr. Barhorst will officially step down as Madison College's president on July 31.
