HOLLYWOOD (WKOW) -- The 85th annual Oscar nominations are out for 2012. There are some surprises in the mix, this year, but as expected by many in the motion picture industry, "Lincoln" has come out on top with the most nods. 

There are nine Academy Award nominees for best motion picture including the old-age love story ``Amour"; the Iran hostage thriller "Argo"; the independent hit "Beasts of the Southern Wild"; the slave-revenge narrative "Django Unchained"; the musical "Les Miserables"; the shipwreck story "Life of Pi"; the lost-souls romance "Silver Linings Playbook"; and the Osama bin Laden manhunt chronicle "Zero Dark Thirty."

The nominations for best supporting actress in a motion picture include Amy Adams, "The Master"; Sally Field, "Lincoln"; Anne Hathaway, "Les Miserables"; Helen Hunt, "The Sessions"; and Jacki Weaver, "Silver Linings Playbook."

The nominations for best supporting actor in a motion picture include Alan Arkin, "Argo"; Robert De Niro, "Silver Linings Playbook"; Philip Seymour Hoffman, "The Master"; Tommy Lee Jones, "Lincoln"; and Christoph Waltz, "Django Unchained."

The nominee for best actor include Bradley Cooper for "Silver Linings Playbook"; Joaquin Phoenix for "The Master"; Daniel Day-Lewis for "Lincoln"; Denzel Washington for "Flight"; and Hugh Jackman for "Les Misérables."

The nominees for best actress include Jessica Chastain for "Zero Dark Thirty"; Quvenzhané Wallis for "Beasts of the Southern Wild"; Jennifer Lawrence for "Silver Linings Playbook"; Naomi Watts for "The Impossible"; and Emmanuelle Riva for "Amour."

The Civil War saga "Lincoln" leads the Academy Awards with 12 nominations, including best picture, director for Steven Spielberg and acting honors for Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones. The Oscars feature a best-picture field that ranges from five to 10 films depending on a complex formula of ballots from the 5,856 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Oscars will be presented on February 24, 2013 at the Dobly Theatre in Los Angeles airing live on ABC.
