Eau Claire (WQOW) - A
second civil lawsuit is filed against a local doctor accused of sexually assaulting
more than a dozen boys, and the clinic he worked for.
Two
Wisconsin brothers, now adults, filed suit Thursday against Dr. David Van De Loo.
He's a former physician at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire. The suit alleges that the
two were sexually assaulted by Van De Loo over several years, beginning in 2006
. It also alleges the clinic knew what Van De Loo was doing, because a parent
allegedly complained in 2007 that their son had been sexually assaulted.
"It's on the clinic because we know Van De Loo is being prosecuted
and is being held to account. And it's because the clinic permitted him to be
there in this position for so long with perhaps these dangerous signals around
him and these practices so unorthodox that the responsibility is shared by
them," says attorney Jeff Anderson.
Mayo Clinic
Health System says they are aware a lawsuit was filed Thursday; however, we
have not had a chance to review it.
As we have
previously stated, the first complaint of this nature that we are aware of was
received on Aug. 30, 2012, and the organization took prompt and decisive action
following that complaint. We will investigate any new information thoroughly
and continue to work with families and authorities as we learn more.
