UPDATE: Dense fog causes slide-offs, minor accidents


DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Two school buses are involved in accidents this morning in separate incidents.

Dane County Communications says there was an accident between a school bus and a car on Klevenville-Riley Road in Mount Horeb. There are no injuries reported.

The second accident is in Cross Plains. Dane County Communications says the bus went into a ditch at County Highway P and Stagecoach. No injuries were reported in that incident either.


MADISON (WKOW) -- Dane County Communications is reporting as many as 7 minor slide offs due to the dense fog.

The majority of southern Wisconsin is under a Dense Fog Advisory until noon on Friday.

The National Weather Service expects fog to develop overnight as the heavier rain moves out of the area and mild, moist air moves in.

Visibility is expected to be from near zero to a quarter mile.

Dane County Emergency Management encourages people to allow extra time for their morning commute. If you're driving, slow down and allow for extra distance in front of your vehicle. Vehicle stopping distances should not exceed a driver's visibility.

Dane County Emergency Management says daytime running lights are not sufficient, turn on your headlights.

Dane County Highway has requested the Wisconsin Department of Transportation activate the electronic message boards on the interstate to alert motorists of the potential of reduced visibilities.
