Rice Lake (WQOW) - The plant manager at a area firm is accused of stealing tens-of-thousands of dollars from his employer.
Jason Durand of Rice Lake worked at Johnson Refrigerated Truck Bodies. He's accused of using company funds to buy items for his home and personal use. He also allegedly stole tools and equipment from the company.
Investigators say the losses total $23,000 but the company is still investigating and says the losses could be much more. Police say Durand admitted the thefts saying he started stealing in 2007 because that's when the company, in his words, "started taking advantage of him."
Durand is now charged with felony theft.
